Travel and Terrain Advice

If the cold in the morning is weak and the weather gets better during the day, pay attention to the snow conditions on the snow surface that change due to the effects of rising temperatures and solar radiation. Pay attention to point avalanches caused by wet snow, especially on slopes with steep slopes and strong effects of solar radiation. Wet snow is heavy, so it is easy to scoop underfoot. On the other hand, at higher elevations, pay attention to the slabs that are forming from recent snowfalls. Extreme terrain shapes that tend to cause unstable snow cover should be avoided. It is a day where you can enjoy a variety of conditions, from dry and gliding snow to pleasant rough snow, and wet heavy snow. If you are a mountain climber, be careful not to slide down because the hard slope is exposed. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches were observed yesterday (23rd).

Snowpack

Areas at low elevations are entering the spring thaw-freezing cycle. The number of places where glide cracks and scalp are visible is also increasing, and attention should be paid to river cracks and weakened snow bridges. At high altitudes, there seems to have been some snowfall until this morning. As of yesterday, recent snow of about 20 cm has been placed on the old snow, but no particularly clear vulnerability has been observed in multiple observations.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency is predicting northern winds, cloudy weather, sunny, and high temperatures of 12°C (elevation 418m) from the morning to the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -0.5℃ (as of 5:00).
