Travel and Terrain Advice

The cold in the morning is also weak, and the temperature rise above yesterday and some rainfall are also forecast. Stay away from slopes with glide cracks, and be careful of point-generated avalanches caused by wet snow on steep slopes. Wet snow is heavy, so it is easy to scoop underfoot. On the other hand, at higher elevations, pay attention to the slabs that are forming from recent snowfalls. Extreme terrain shapes that tend to cause unstable snow cover should be avoided.

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches were observed yesterday (23rd).

Snowpack

Areas at low elevations are entering the spring thaw-freezing cycle. The number of places where glide cracks and scalp are visible is also increasing, and attention should be paid to river cracks and weakened snow bridges. At high altitudes, there seems to have been some snowfall until this morning.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts rain and a high temperature of 13 degrees Celsius (elevation 13 m) until the beginning of the night for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture due to westerly winds, cloudy, sometimes sunny, and places. At Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1,310m), the temperature is -3℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall.
