Travel and Terrain Advice

Be wary of all-layer avalanches and snowblock collapses at low elevations from the forest limit. It is necessary to consider that the high temperature continues at night, and the condition of the slopes with glide cracks has already become bad enough. Also, even if the beginning of rainfall is late or low, warm southerly winds enter through the cracks and melt the snow at the bottom of the snowfall. Avoid entering slopes with glide cracks, and move quickly as you pass beneath them. Also, very strong winds are forecast, so please be careful of falls and falls caused by the wind, including mountain climbers. Have a safe day

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (26th) an Glide avalanche of size 2 has been observed and reported in extreme terrain.

Snowpack

Due to yesterday's (25th) temperature rise and solar radiation, the snow cover surface layer became sufficiently wet to the vicinity of the forest limit. Warm winds from the south are coming in, and positive temperatures continue to rise to high altitudes even at night. As a result, snow melting is progressing rapidly in places where elevations are low.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts southern winds, later, strong, cloudy, occasional rain, and a high temperature of 19 degrees Celsius (elevation 13 m) from the afternoon to the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. The temperature is 5℃ (as of 5:00) at Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1,310m).
