Travel and Terrain Advice

Due to the temporary influx of cold and the northwest wind, the snow surface at high altitudes is hard and frozen. Regardless of whether you are climbing or sliding, please be careful about slipping. In the afternoon, when it loosens a little, you should be able to enjoy a comfortable spring coarse snow glide. On the other hand, snow conditions at low altitudes are not good. Consider glide cracks and snow blocks to be in a state of instability, even if you don't get enough solar radiation or temperature rise today. Always think about how you are above, especially when setting a route to enter Tanisuji in the second half of the tour. The weather is getting better. Have a safe day

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (27th), a large number of wet snow avalanches up to size 1-3 were observed due to the effects of rainfall the day before. In addition, snow on the surface layer, which lost its strength due to rising temperatures during the day and the effects of solar radiation, caused wet snow avalanches due to human stimulation.

Snowpack

It is entering the spring thaw freeze cycle at all elevation zones. Due to the rainfall the day before, the surface layer of the snow cover is sufficiently wet, and positive temperatures continue throughout the night at low altitudes, so the condition of glide cracks and remaining snow blocks has deteriorated It's there.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts north winds, cloudy weather, sometimes sunny, rain or snow until morning, and a high temperature of 11℃ (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is 2.7℃ (as of 5:00). Yesterday (27th) recorded a high of 10.2 degrees Celsius at 13:00, and positive temperatures continue throughout the night.
