Travel and Terrain Advice

Beware of instability that remains in the pockets of slopes. Be aware of triggering from areas of extremely steep slopes with thin snowpack. We recommend adhering to the behavioral principle of not staying in avalanche start zones, tracks, or runout zones for long periods of time. There are many exposed "terrain traps" such as rocks and gullies that can increase the damage of even small avalanches. Be careful of collisions with rocks thinly concealed by the snowfall. Sunny forecast. Please be aware of changes in snow cover conditions due to solar radiation on steep southerly slopes.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday evening, a slab avalanche size 2 occurred on an extremely steep west-facing slope just below Mt. Triggered by snowboarder.

Snowpack

The upper part of the snowpack is well settled and well bonded by wind. There is a layer of low density due to faceting in the upper part of the crust in the middle part of the snowpack, and care should be taken in bonding. Steep southerly slopes are expected to be crusted.

Weather

The temperature at 2380m as of 6:00 am is -3°C and the snow depth is about 100cm. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies with high pressure.
