Fresh wind deposited slabs have formed at higher elevations across easterly slopes, look for sighs of fresh wind pressed snow around ridgeline or cornice formation as and indication where this latest new snow has been transported. At lower elevations in the tree line storm slabs can be found on multiple aspects with lower volume pockets of soft slab triggered on the 27th. Take the time to asses open slopes in the tress at lower elevations and look for any new activity in the area you are travelling in. Below treeline remain cautious of river crossings and of buried hazards just below the snow surface.
Fresh winds slab have formed at higher elevations lee to the westerly winds.
Instability within the latest new snow has resulted in low volume pockets of storm slab being triggered on the 27th. We expect this hazard to remain until the latest storm snow has time to settle.
Multiple low-volume storm slabs were triggered in the tree line in the north of the region within the latest new snow yesterday.
Up to 50cm of new snow has fallen over the previous few days, this latest storm snow has been transported onto lee slope at higher elevations from westerly winds. Fresh cornices have been growing and are easily fractured. At tree line and below soft storm slabs have been observed and are reactive. Any concern remains within the latest new snow with the mid-pack well settled and strong.
Broken sunshine in the middle part of the day with light snow showers increasing into the evening. Winds will remain light to moderate from the north west.
