Alpine Low
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Fair
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
This is a day to assess the effects of the wind and choose your terrain. Look for simple slopes that are not affected by the wind, and you will enjoy comfortable runs. On the other hand, be wary of slabs that have formed where the terrain does not support snow well, such as isolated terrain. If there is a "terrain trap" below that slope, even a small avalanche can have deadly consequences. There are still unfilled holes in the gully. Glide cracks have also been observed in alpine areas. Take a careful line just before descending. The mountain is expected to be crowded. Please manage your group wisely, using safe terrain and considering those above and below you. Have a good day.
Be careful of steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Note the presence of glide cracks.
Yesterday, several spontaneous occurrences of slab avalanches up to size 2 caused by wind slabs were observed above the treeline.
Snow up to the 31st is settling. Yesterday's fine weather has formed crusts on the sunlit slopes below treeline. On top of this, the weak snowfall that has continued since yesterday afternoon has brought new snow accumulation. In the higher elevation areas, strong north~west winds were blowing from yesterday afternoon until early this morning. There is a high probability that a wind slab has formed on the downwind side.
Today, the area will be covered by high pressure, but is expected to be affected by a trough and cold air. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes sunny skies with some snow showers and a daytime high of 5 °C for northern Nagano Prefecture. At 703 m elevation in Hakuba, Japan, the temperature is -0.8 °C (as of 5:00 a.m.), with a 24-hour snow accumulation of 3 cm.
