Treeline Low Uncertainty in the amount of snowfall
Below Treeline Good Depends on the amount of snowfall

The situation is that there is fresh snow from earlier in the day on a well-wetted snow surface at lower elevations and on a frozen snow surface at higher elevations. Watch for storm slabs or loose snow avalanches on steeper slopes with more fresh snow accumulation. At very low elevations, stay away from slopes with glide cracks. Even as temperatures drop, the danger of glide avalanche does not diminish immediately. When visibility is poor, it is difficult to be aware of your surroundings. Please be cautious while maintaining good communication with your fellow climbers.
Watch out for steep slopes that have accumulated more fresh snow since dawn.
Fresh snow deposited on very steep terrain
Even though there is fresh snow on the snowpack surface, the underlying snowpack is still wet enough from yesterday's rainfall and rising temperatures. The glide movement of the snowpack will not settle abruptly, so please remain vigilant for glide cracks in extreme terrain formations today.
Several size 1-2 glide avalanches were observed yesterday (2nd) in the below treeline. All are cliff-like extreme terrain. Numerous snowballs were also observed.
The upper layers of the snowpack were sufficiently wet from yesterday's rainfall and elevated temperatures. At lower elevations, the entire snowpack lost strength, causing glide avalanches and snow block collapses. Subsequently, snowfall began this morning. If snowfall increases in the future, it will be necessary to check the bonding of new and old snow.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting northeasterly winds, rain or snow, cloudy from midday, and a daytime high of 4 °C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -4 °C (as of 5:45 a.m.), and 4 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours.
