Beware of triggering wind slabs on steep slopes just below the ridge. Act from small slopes to make sure of bonding. Be aware of open glide cracks at lower elevations and the possibility of glide avalanches from cliff-like slopes with thin snowpack. Do not enter the lower part of such slopes or pass through them quickly. When regrouping after skiing, try to do so off avalanche terrain and in the safest place possible, such as on top of a ridge. It is windy and snow continues to fall. Please be aware of changing snow conditions.
Be careful of the steep slope just below the ridge.
Note open glide cracks and cliff-like terrain.
Yesterday (6th), there were no new avalanche bulletins reported but little information.
About 20 cm of new snowfall is expected to be on top of the rainfall crust, but strong northwesterly winds have blown it away, possibly forming a wind slab just below the ridge. Rainfall and elevated temperatures are also expected to remain in the lower parts of the snowpack at lower elevations.
As of 5:00, about 5 cm of snow had fallen in the vicinity of AMeDAS Fujiwara, and it is still continuing with wind. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy skies in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture with some snow showers until morning, as a winter pressure pattern will continue but will be gradually covered by a high-pressure system.
