Temperatures are forecast to rise. Watch for wet loose snow avalanches from southerly oriented large steep slopes. If crusts melt during the day and your feet or skis sink deep or snowballs begin to roll, this is a sign of increased danger. At lower elevations, watch for open glide cracks and glide avalanches from cliff-like terrain with thin snowpack. Do not enter the lower part of such slopes or pass through them quickly. Also be aware of the possibility of collapses in areas where snow cover is heavily overhanging.
Watch out for open cracks and cliff-like terrain with thin snow cover.
Beware of large steep slopes as the amount of snow involved increases and the scale increases.
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (12th), but few reports were observed.
On southerly slopes and in all directions at least below 1500 m elevation, the snow cover surface layer melted-Freeze during the day and froze at night, but at lower elevations the intensity of the snow cover was weak due to the weak nighttime cold. No vulnerability was observed from the middle to lower layers of snow cover.
As of 4:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara was 2°C, with weak nighttime cooling. There was 0.5 mm of rainfall in the past 12 hours, and the temperature at 1300 m was 3.4°C. There may have been strong westerly winds at 2000 m during the night. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy skies with temperatures rising to 11°C during the day in Minakami, as the area is initially affected by a low pressure system but will gradually be covered by high pressure.
