Travel and Terrain Advice

With rain falling in the region and warm overnight temperatures, the upper snowpack will be saturated at present. Concern for glide slab avalanches today has grown under the current conditions with high consequences if any failures occur, avoidance of terrain below these features should be taken. Wet loose activity is expected to continue in steep terrain so be mindful of terrain traps below you even if knocked from your feet in a low volume release.

Wet loose activity has been widely reported over the previous few days. This is expected to continue today in steep terrain until temperatures lower later in the day.

概要

Avalanche

A number of natural wet loose avalanches continue to be reported daily across the region on multiple aspects in steep terrain.

Snowpack

A surface crust was quick to break down yesterday on all aspects below 1200 meters, becoming wet and heavy. Warm temperatures overnight have done little to help an overnight freeze, and current rainfall will further promote a saturated upper snowpack.

Weather

Rain showers are expected at lower elevations in the morning before light to moderate winds turn to the west in the evening and temperatures begin to fall. Freezing levels have remained around 1500m overnight.
