Below Treeline Fair High uncertainty of glide avalanche
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Clear skies are forecast. Watch for loose snow avalanches from southerly oriented large steep slopes. If crusts melt during the day and your feet or skis sink deep or snowballs begin to roll, this is a sign of increased danger. At lower elevations, watch for open glide cracks and glide avalanches from cliff-like terrain where the snowpack is thin. Also be aware of possible collapses where snow cover is overhanging a large area. Do not enter the lower part of such slopes or pass through them quickly.
Watch out for open cracks and cliff-like terrain with thin snow cover.
Beware of large steep slopes
Yesterday (13th), there were reports of multiple glide avalanches observed around 1000m elevation below treeline.
The snow cover surface layer melted-Freeze during the day and froze at night yesterday in all directions below 1,700 m elevation, but the intensity of the snow cover is weak at lower elevations due to weak nighttime cold. No vulnerability has been observed from the middle to lower layers of snow cover, but the boundary surface with the ground is expected to be wet due to the effect of elevated temperatures up to yesterday.
As of 4:00 p.m., the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -0.6°C, with a weak nighttime chill, and the temperature around 1300 m is -3°C with a strong northwesterly wind. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy mornings and evenings in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to high pressure, but with some moisture in the air.
