Careful terrain selection is necessary until new snowfall bonding progresses. Be careful to induce storm slabs in open areas with few trees or where there is a sudden change in slope. Be careful of inducing wind slabs on steep slopes just below the ridge where bonding has not progressed. When regrouping after skiing, be sure to remove avalanche terrain and do so in the safest possible location, such as on the ridge. The forecast is for clear skies. Please be aware of the possibility of loose snow avalanches and snow shelter collapse from large southerly steep slopes during the day.
Beware of open areas with few trees and sudden changes in slope.
Be careful of the steep slope just below the ridge.
Yesterday (19th), there were reports of numerous point-generating dry snow (size 1-1.5) on steep slopes below treeline and a few induced storm slabs (size 1-1.5) near the ridge line, but no information at higher elevations.
A new snowfall of about 40-50 cm above the crust buried on the 19th has been observed, and a layer of poor bonding has been observed within this snowfall, so caution should be exercised. The 30-40 cm of snow on the crust that was buried on the 17th is gradually settling, and at elevations below 800 m, rainfall and warmth are having a strong influence and the snow cover is weak. Weakness is not observed from the middle to lower layers of snow cover.
As of 4:00 pm, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -2.9°C. 14 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours, and weak snowfall is still continuing in the surrounding areas. Around 1,300 m elevation, about 30 cm of snow has fallen. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies due to high pressure.
