Mixed spring conditions continue across the region with snowfall overnight and possibility of rain showers towards the end of the week. Warm temperatures again today will loosen the snow surface and which may be further may be accelerated by any precipitation. Be prepared to change your plans if receive rain or strong sunshine during the day. Continue to avoid slopes with glide features at all elevations.
Isolated pockets of wind slab exist at upper elevations and in cross loaded features lee to the northwest winds.
As we continue into spring, glide release remains a concern due to warm temperatures across the region.
Warming temperatures and the possibility of some rainfall today will promote wet loose activity at lower elevations with the latest new snow likely to lose cohesion quickly if this occurs.
No new observations have been reported recently.
We have received up to 10cm of new snow overnight. Previous to this latest snowfall above 900 meters windward northerly aspects had been stripped back to a melt freeze crust and were firm. Lee aspects have pockets of winds slab close to ridgeline and in protected areas. Snow quality improves at mid elevation before transitioning to a melt freeze crust lower down that now may be buried under a thin layer of new snow.. The mid to lower snow pack is well consolidated at present.
Overnight snowfall will make way to the possibility of rainfall in the middle part of the day as temperatures rise. We can expect moderate south west winds possibly gusting stronger at higher elevations.
