Spring continues with rain overnight and warm temperatures that are due to lower during the day. This will likely lead to variable conditions and possibly some thin breakable crusts on upper elevations and northerly aspects. Westerly winds have been moderate to strong in the alpine so we expect isolated pockets of wind slab to remain. Continue to keep an avoidance mindset in terrain with glide cracks as the freezing level drops.
Glide slab release remains a concern with overnight rain and warm temperatures. The freezing level is expected to lower later in the day which may add tension to the pack. Continue to avoid these features and the terrain below them.
Wet loose activity will be active in steep terrain early in the day but the hazard will trend downwards as freezing levels lower during the day.
Isolated pockets of wind slab remain at upper elevations on lee slopes but are settling
We have received no new reports of activity in the region.
Warm temperatures and rain at lower elevations yesterday and overnight will have settled the snow pack to mid elevations. Expect the surface to be wet and heavy this morning up to 1000 meters on all aspects before temperatures lower and a refreeze begins to occur late in the day. The upper snowpack contains multiple crusts from the current spring cycle.
Overnight rain showers will begin the dissipate as morning comes alongside the lowering of the freezing level to 300 meters during the day. Winds will remain from the west and will be moderate gusting to gale in the alpine.
