Alpine Fair
Treeline Fair Depends on the degree of temperature rise and solar radiation
Below Treeline Good
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
It is a "spring day" with a large amount of yellow dust predicted. A foehn event is occurring on the sea side of the Myoko Mountains area, resulting in high temperatures in the morning. At lower elevations, be on the lookout for wet snow. Also, today, high temperatures similar to the previous day are forecast, but solar radiation and winds will also affect how much this will reduce the strength of the surface layer. Keep an eye out for changes in snow conditions on the snow surface with elevation, aspect, and time of day.
Stay away from slopes with glide cracks.
If the terrain is very steep, loose snow avalanches can occur even in the forest!
Yesterday (24th), a snow block collapse from a cliff-like terrain was observed below treeline.
Yesterday, although the sun was not as strong as the day before yesterday, the snow up to the treeline was moist or wet. At lower elevations, the upper layer of snow was especially thick and wet. On the other hand, in the high alpines, hard old snow is exposed and deep shcabras are also forming.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a southerly wind, daytime and northerly winds, clear skies, and a daytime maximum temperature of 22 °C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is 6 °C (as of 4:45 a.m.) with no new precipitation in the past 24 hours.
