Alpine Fair
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Fair
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
This is a day when a glide avalanche of significant magnitude is possible below treeline. Stay clear of slopes with glide cracks, and move quickly and keep clear of your companions when passing below them. When descending the forest road at the end of a long tour, pay close attention to the slope on its side. It is important to maintain good communication with your companions and control the group until you have completely descended the mountain.
Continued high temperatures at lower elevations have resulted in large amounts of melt water. A frozen snow surface in the morning does not mean it is safe. Stay away from slopes with glide cracks.
Even in Alpine, positive temperatures have continued since yesterday afternoon. Point avalanches can also occur in the forest, so always think about where you are (in the avalanche terrain?). Always think about where you are (are you in avalanche terrain?).
Yesterday (26th), several size 2 glide avalanches were reported below treeline. Several size 1 loose snow avalanches were also reported.
Yesterday (26th), strong winds blew so hard in the morning that lifts were shut down at many ski areas. This wind slowed the loosening of the snow, but then the high temperatures and sunshine caused the snow to melt rapidly and decrease in intensity. Extremely high temperatures are forecast for today due to a low pressure system passing over the Tohoku region. Expect more melting than yesterday and an increase in avalanche danger from wet snow.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting southerly winds, slightly stronger during the day, clear skies, and a daytime high of 25 °C (418 m elevation) for northern Nagano Prefecture. At Amedas Hakuba (elevation 703 m), the temperature is -0.5 °C (as of 5:00), and there has been no precipitation in the past 24 hours. At the main ridge (elevation 2,400 m), the temperature is 5.4 °C (as of 5:00), with winds averaging 15 m/s and a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 20 m/s.
