Avalanche
Yesterday (25th), there was a report of human induced observation of multiple surface avalanche size 1.5 on the eastward slope near the forest limit. Limited observation with poor visibility and few people entering the mountain.
Snowpack
There are reports that snowfall due to stormy weather, which began on the 25th, is over 40 cm above the old snow, and the connection with the old snow is bad. The snow cover is redistributed by strong north-to-northwest winds mainly in the Alpine area, forming wind slabs on the leeward slopes. The amount of snow in the forest zone from the forest limit is not yet sufficient, and the terrain is not filled. There is a dangerous hole in the swamp.
Weather
The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts the northern part of Nagano prefecture to be cloudy or sunny, snow mainly along the mountains, and a maximum temperature of -1℃ (elevation 418m). At AMeDAS Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -6.7℃ (as of 5:00). The Japan Meteorological Agency announced “Nagano Prefecture Weather Information on Heavy Snow” at 05:31 on December 26, and predicts heavy snow over the 28th in the region centered on the northern part of Nagano prefecture. Along the Daihoku region mountains where Hakuba is located, it is 50 cm in 24 hours from 6:00 on the 26th, 50-70 cm in 24 hours from 6:00 on the 27th in the northern part of Nagano prefecture, and 40cm in 24 hours from 6:00 on the 28th.
