Avalanche
Yesterday (30th), we received multiple reports on the treatment of surface avalanches in the management work of the ski resort.
Snowpack
The stormy weather since yesterday (30th) brought a lot of snowfall. 60-80 cm in the forest zone. The new snow cover is also poorly combined with the previous snow cover, and it also contains multiple vulnerabilities. The snow is redistributed by the west-north direction wind, and is deposited thicker on the leeward side, forming a slab. Therefore, there are conditions for large-scale avalanches to occur in high elevation areas.
Weather
The Japan Meteorological Agency is expected to have a strong winter-type atmospheric pressure distribution for the northern part of Nagano prefecture, and it is expected to be affected by the cold. For this reason, it is forecast that it will be cloudy and occasionally snowy in the north. At AMeDAS Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -4.9℃ (as of 5:00).
