Travel and Terrain Advice

It is a situation where the risk of avalanches is high due to heavy snowfall. It is recommended to act in places where the slope of the forest zone is low. Even if you are at a low slope, be aware of the possibility of avalanches coming from the overhead avalanche zone. Note the presence of uncoupled storm slabs, which are formed on steep slopes. It is necessary to pay attention to triggering from places where the slope changes sharply. Since there is still little snow at low elevations, there are exposed “terrain traps” such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing trees that increase damage even if the size of avalanches that occur is small. It is a forecast that the pressure arrangement of the winter type will continue. Please be aware of any changes in snow cover in the future.

概要

Avalanche

There were no reports of observing a new avalanche yesterday (13th), but the observation was limited due to poor visibility and few people entering the mountain.

Snowpack

The bonds in the middle part of the snow cover are rising. On top of that, snowfall, which intensified since the evening of the 13th, is expected to be 60 cm or more in many places. Low-density snowfall has been observed on the boundary with the old snow, so care must be taken to combine with the new snowfall. At low elevations, the bush is thick, and there are holes in the swamp.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature is -6℃ at AMeDAS Fujiwara. Snowfall of 37 cm in the last 12 hours. Snowfall continues around the area. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency's announcement at 17:00 on the 13th, it is forecast that the northern part of Gunma prefecture will be snowy and cloudy at night because it will be a strong winter-type atmospheric pressure arrangement.
