This is a dangerous avalanche condition. Even if you are in the forest belt, pay attention to the occurrence areas and runways within it. The plate-shaped snow that is made up of Storm Slabs is also very soft. Don't simply decide that it's okay because the snow on the surface is fluffy. Also, point avalanches can occur on very steep slopes, so avoid places combined with “topographic traps”. Even a small avalanche can be fatal. Please take conservative actions using safe places and make careful condition judgments. Snow is good, so you can enjoy it enough even if you drop the slope. And even in places with low elevations, think that if strong winds begin to blow, the degree of danger rises.
Yesterday (17th), a soft storm slab of size 1 due to snow that began shaking in the morning or a point generation avalanche was responding to human stimuli on a very steep slope.
The snowfall from the morning yesterday (17th) weakened once more in the afternoon, but from the night, it fell strongly around the north side of Hakuba Valley, forming a new storm slab. Due to the atmospheric pressure arrangement, snowfall continues in a relatively weak state of wind. No noticeable vulnerability has been observed in the layers below the middle layer of the snow cover.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting northern Nagano prefecture's northern wind, snow, and cloudy high temperature of -1℃ (elevation 418m) from afternoon to time. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -5.1℃ (as of 5:00). Snowfall of about 20 cm has been observed in the past 12 hours at an altitude of 1,000 m. The Japan Meteorological Agency has continuously announced a heavy snow warning for the northern part of Nagano prefecture for the period until 12:00 today at 4:11.
