Travel and Terrain Advice

Note the newly formed steep storm slab. Beware of provocation in places where the slope changes rapidly or on steep slopes with sparse trees. The higher the elevation, where the amount of snowfall increases, you need to be careful. It is recommended to act in places with low slopes. Be careful of “terrain traps” such as deep slopes, cliffs, rocks, standing trees, etc., that increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a forecast that the winter-type atmospheric pressure arrangement will continue. Be aware of changes in the weather and act.

概要

Avalanche

There were no reports of observing a new avalanche yesterday, but the observations were limited because visibility was poor and there were few people entering the mountain.

Snowpack

The snowfall in the stormy weather until the 19th proceeded and combined. On top of that, snow due to stormy weather from yesterday is expected to be 60 cm or more. There is snow with low density on the boundary surface, so care must be taken when combining. Clusts were buried on the southerly slopes, but no temperature gradient was observed that caused recrystallization of the interface.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature is -5.3℃ at AMeDAS Fujiwara. The new snowfall from 15:00 yesterday was 34cm. Snowfall continues in the vicinity even now. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency's announcement at 17:00 on the 20th, the winter type of atmospheric pressure will continue, and it will be affected by the chills in the sky and the valleys of atmospheric pressure, so it is forecast to become cloudy from the afternoon due to snow in the northern part of Gunma prefecture.
