Travel and Terrain Advice

Note the newly formed steep storm slab. Beware of provocation in places where the slope changes rapidly or on steep slopes with sparse trees. The higher the elevation, where the amount of snowfall increases, you need to be careful. Careful route selection is necessary at high elevations, where the combination of snow cover is difficult to advance. Be careful of “terrain traps” such as deep slopes, cliffs, rocks, standing trees, etc., that increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small.

概要

Avalanche

There were no reports of observing a new avalanche yesterday, but the observations were limited because visibility was poor and there were few people entering the mountain.

Snowpack

The snowfall in the stormy weather until the 19th proceeded and combined. On top of that, snow due to stormy weather from yesterday is placed about 60 cm, and it is gradually subsiding. Keep in mind that there may be a low density of snow at the interface. Clusts were buried on the southerly slopes, but no temperature gradient was observed that caused recrystallization of the interface.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature is -5.2℃ at AMeDAS Fujiwara. Snowfall continues even now, but snowfall has not increased. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency's announcement at 17:00 on the 21st, the winter-type atmospheric pressure arrangement will gradually relax and be covered by high pressure, but due to the influence of barometric troughs, the northern part of Gunma prefecture is forecast to be sunny and cloudy in the morning and evening.
