Avalanche
Yesterday (23rd), an avalanche of size 1.5 wind slabs due to natural occurrence has been observed and reported on the eastern slope at an elevation of 2400m. In addition, multiple Glide avalanche have been reported where the elevation of the adjacent Hakuba Mountains is low.
Snowpack
Snow in stormy weather is settling, and instability has been resolved. Continuous attention should be paid to the danger of wind slabs remaining in the terrain at high elevations. Yesterday, the temperature did not rise as much as the weather forecast, but the temperature rose significantly compared to the previous low temperature, which is speeding up the deformation of the snow cover. In such a case, even with a small amount of rainfall, Glide avalanche are likely to occur, so be careful.
Weather
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts the northern wind, snow or rain, cloudy from noon, and a maximum temperature of 5 degrees (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1310m), the temperature is -4℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 24 hours.
