Those who raise the elevation should be wary of windslabs formed by yesterday's strong northwesterly winds. A hard slab does not mean safety, and its induced sensitivity is difficult to estimate even for professionals. On the terrain locality near the forest limits, weak snow, which had reacted until a few days ago, may be hiding under its slab, completely unintensified. Look for the effects of the wind while climbing. If you are climbing a mountain, don't feel relieved just because you're on a ridge. In order to avoid the rocks on the ridge line, there have been accidents where a thin, very small wind slab is stepped through and slipped down when it went a little around the leeward side. No new avalanche observations were reported yesterday (1/31).
Snowpack
It has been observed that vulnerabilities due to the previous fresh snow, which had been reacting until the day before yesterday (30th) in the below treeline, have also been largely resolved. Below the middle layer of snow cover, no noticeable vulnerability has been observed. It is a place with a higher elevation than the upper part of the below treeline, and a strong northwesterly wind blew yesterday (31st), forming a wind slab. Information is limited, and there is a high level of uncertainty about this window slab.
Weather
The Meteorological Agency forecasts southern wind, sunny, cloudy, night, snow, and a maximum temperature of 3℃ (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -4.6℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snow accumulation in the past 12 hours. There is a very weak snowfall as of 5:00 p.m., but it will not be consolidated according to the forecast.
