Travel and Terrain Advice

This is a dangerous avalanche condition. Until you are confident in the snow conditions, be careful about routing and make conservative decisions. Don't forget that when you have poor visibility, it's hard to get material for judgment, and it's hard to notice the dangers above you. Think about whether there is a “topographic trap” at the end of the slope where you are going to glide, and smart group management using the terrain will reduce accidents in the unlikely event of an accident. For those who are inexperienced, fresh snow skiing on the slopes will be a fun day.

概要

Avalanche

There was no observation report of a the new avalanche yesterday (1st).

Snowpack

This is the beginning of a new Storm Slab cycle. It is necessary to pay attention to the state of the boundary between the old snow surface that was hit by the strong wind the day before yesterday or settling due to the rising temperature and the fresh snow from last night. Strong winds from west to northwest are blowing in Alpine. Be vigilant of slabs that come down to lower elevations and form while the wind is affected by the terrain.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts west winds, snow, and sometimes cloudy until afternoon, and a maximum temperature of 5 degrees (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. We have observed snowfall at Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1310m) with a temperature of -7℃ (as of 5:00 p.m.), 25 cm in the past 12 hours, and 40 cm in the past 24 hours.
