It is a day when avalanche conditions are high on the sea side and the north side of the mountain area where there was a lot of snowfall. Please be wary of the instability within the past two days of fresh snow. Please use a small, safe terrain and check the condition. Pay attention to areas within the terrain that are susceptible to trigger (for example, convexities, shapes where the terrain does not support snow, or where slabs are thin), or wind-affected slabs that form very steep terrain. The winter type continues, and snowfall forecasts are coming out for the weekend. An action plan that also takes that into account.
山域の海側、北側で注意
Yesterday (3rd), a size 1 surface avalanche was reported due to human stimulation in the extreme topography of the forest zone, on the south side of the mountain area. In addition, in the adjacent Hakuba Mountains, multiple surface generated avalanches due to snow moved by southerly winds have been observed and reported.
Snowfall on the sea side and north side of the mountain area is increasing, 20-30 cm in the last 12 hours in the below treeline. Fresh snow is affected by northwest to west winds, and attention should be paid to the storm slab that this snow forms. Vulnerabilities that are likely to be a problem below the forest limit and below the middle snowfall have not been reported so far.
The Meteorological Agency predicts the northwest wind, rear, and west winds slightly stronger, snow, and a maximum temperature of 3 degrees (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1310m), the temperature is -8℃ (as of 5:00), and snowfall of 5 cm has been observed in the past 12 hours.
