It is a day when avalanche conditions are high. Please set a careful route on the premise that snow in stormy weather has not yet increased its strength sufficiently. As you climb, look for the effects of the nocturnal wind that blew up in the sky. The depth of the russell and the feeling transmitted from the soles of the feet also give a sense of the formation of the slab. Being aware of changes leads to safer actions. Avoid convex terrain where the formation of slabs can be seen, or large open slopes that are strongly affected by solar radiation. Also, since deep fresh snow does not speed up, it tends to head towards steep slopes. Try to keep an eye on the oblique. At low altitudes, glide cracks are hidden by fresh snow, so be careful.
Because of the stormy weather yesterday (6th), there is no data on a the new avalanche in the mountain field.
The snowfall fell at night, but at high altitudes, a storm on the west side was blowing until the wee hours. This time, the consolidated snow has exceeded 1 m in the below treeline where there was a lot of that amount. It is necessary to be wary of vulnerability in fresh snow or slabs due to strong winds from last night. On a steep slope with a low elevation and a strong influence of solar radiation, there is a melting and freezing layer under the snow this time, and the bonding condition is high in uncertainty.
The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts westerly winds, snow, occasional, cloudy, and a maximum temperature of 3 degrees (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. We are observing snowfall at Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1310m) with a temperature of -11° C (as of 5:00), 14 cm in the past 12 hours, and 43 cm in the past 24 hours.
