Travel and Terrain Advice

Beware of local instability that remains in extreme terrain, etc. Even if you feel that the snow cover is stable, when you enter a place exposed to avalanche danger (= avalanche terrain), please do some kind of safety action (such as keeping a reasonable distance from your friends). Daily recognition of the terrain and the habit of behavior based on it will reduce accidents in the event of an emergency.

概要

Avalanche

There are no observational reports of new avalanches yesterday (9th).

Snowpack

Snow in stormy weather settles down, and in areas with strong wind effects from west to northwest, previous hard snow surfaces are exposed, or locally time-elapsed wind slabs are formed. Currently, no noticeable vulnerability has been observed in snow cover. Depending on the course of the low pressure and the degree of development, please determine whether a point generation avalanche can occur if a strong snowfall starts. The southwest winds are already coming in in the sky.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts the northern part of Nagano prefecture with northern wind, snow, morning and evening, cloudy, and a maximum temperature of 1℃ (elevation 418m). At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -5.5℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
