Travel and Terrain Advice

Note the presence of a new storm slab on the steep slope. It is necessary to pay attention to triggering in places where the slope changes sharply. Be careful of “terrain traps” such as cliffs and deep rivers, which increase damage even if the scale of avalanches that occur is small. In places with a lot of snow, glide cracks are gradually getting bigger. You also need to be careful about falls. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting snowfall in the future. Pay attention to the amount of snowfall and the effects of wind.

概要

Avalanche

Several small point-generated avalanches were observed yesterday on extreme steep slopes, and naturally occurring surface avalanches of size 1.5 that seem to have occurred within the past 24 hours on the southern slope at an elevation of 1500m

Snowpack

There was a new low-density snowfall of about 10-20 cm until yesterday, and point avalanches were observed on the extreme steep slopes. Care must be taken to combine this low-density snow cover with future snowfall. Bonding in the middle layer of snow cover is good.

Weather

The temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara as of 7:00 -8.3°C. There was a snowfall of about 1 cm in the vicinity. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency's announcement at 5:00 p.m. on the 17th, the winter type of atmospheric pressure will continue, and the low pressure will move southward in the Sea of Japan, so the northern part of Gunma prefecture is forecast to be cloudy with occasional sunny weather and snow late at night.
