Travel and Terrain Advice

As you increase the elevation, be aware of the instability that remains in certain terrain. Avoid terrain such as convex, isolated shapes that are difficult to support snow cover, and look for simple slopes. It is also an important factor that there is no “topographic trap” below the slope you want to slide on. A significant rise in temperature is forecast today, so please do not approach slopes that have already been glide-cracked. As a tour route, when you have to pass below it, please act in a principled manner, such as leaving a reasonable interval. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (18th), a size 1 surface avalanche has been observed at the avalanche management of the ski resort.

Snowpack

Snow in stormy weather is settling, and instability is gradually being resolved. Also, there are no vulnerabilities observed that would cause problems from the middle to the lower layers of the snow cover. A significant increase in temperature is forecast today, and warm southwesterly winds are already entering the sky, so it is necessary to consider the effect.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts southern winds, daytime, northern winds, cloudy, night, snow or rain, and a maximum temperature of 8 degrees (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Kanzan (altitude 350 m), the temperature is -3.7℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
