Dangerous avalanche conditions continue in places where elevations have been raised. Be wary of triggering storm slabs that are sintered and do not give enough strength. Careful route setting and conservative decision-making are essential. Due to a large amount of snowfall, it is in such a state that it is impossible to act if you remove skis, etc. It is a day when damage or loss of equipment due to a fall can quickly lead to distress, so please try to act with sufficient capacity than your own ability. If you are inexperienced, it is a day when you can ski at ease inside the ski resort. Have a safe day
A naturally occurring avalanche of size 2.5 has been observed in the below treeline yesterday (23rd). In addition, multiple point avalanches of size 1-1.5 have been observed in ski cuts attempted in steep isolated terrain.
A large amount of snowfall has also crossed the mountain pass and has begun to subside. Accordingly, it has been observed that fresh snow is settling at low elevations. On the other hand, at high elevations, a very strong wind blows to the west, and snowfall is still partially continuing. Observation data above the forest limit is extremely limited, so there is a high level of uncertainty.
The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts westerly wind, snow, cloudy morning, and a maximum temperature of 3℃ (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Kanzan (altitude 350 m), the temperature was -4.2℃ (as of 5:00), and there was a snowfall of 2 cm in the past 12 hours.
