Travel and Terrain Advice

Be wary of wind slabs formed in places that are downwind to the west. The wind wraps around along the terrain, so it is not simply an eastern slope. It is important to see where the snow is moving and where it is crossloading. By closely observing the condition of the snow surface, you can see the effects of winds that blew in the past Avoid unsupported terrain where snow cover is prone to instability, isolated or convex, and other places that are likely to be trigger points, and look for simple terrain with weak wind effects. Even if you feel that the snow cover is stable, adhere to the principle mode of behavior, such as stopping in a safe position or gliding one by one. It reduces accidents in the unlikely event of an accident. The snow is cooling due to radiant cooling. If you choose the right terrain, you will enjoy a safe and comfortable ride. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

Since the weather recovered yesterday (24th), it was confirmed that multiple avalanches of size 3 were occurring on the southeast to south-facing slopes of the Alpine (elevation 2,400-2,700 m). It seems to have occurred during stormy weather.

Snowpack

It has been observed that about 3 days have passed since the strong snowfall ended, and the snow in stormy weather is also showing calm. Also, since the field of view was opened yesterday, a large avalanche trace that is thought to have occurred during stormy weather was also confirmed. Continuous medium to strong winds were blowing in the Alpine, which suggests that movable snow has already decreased considerably as a result, and those who raise the elevation should consider the exposure of the hard snow surface. On the southern slopes of the forest belt, thin crusts are formed from yesterday's insolation. The instability has not been completely eliminated. It's an important day for terrain selection.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts southern winds, sunny, occasional, cloudy, and maximum temperatures of 5℃ (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), there was a temperature of -11.7℃ (as of 5:00), and snowfall of 2 cm in the past 12 hours.
