Travel and Terrain Advice

It's a day when you need to be careful about the unstable snow that remains in extreme terrain. If you raise the elevation and go to Alpine, please be careful not to slide down because the hard snow surface is exposed by the strong wind until yesterday. There is fresh snow on the slopes that are not affected by solar radiation and wind, and this morning's radiant cooling is in good condition. Don't increase your gliding speed too much and lose control. The important thing about skiing in the mountains is to slide with plenty of room and not fall over. Also, the mountains are expected to be crowded. Please move while considering relationships with other groups within the same avalanche terrain. Have a nice holiday * The incident at Karamatsuzawa Minamitaki Takamaki slope (occurred on February 19) is undergoing rescue operations. I inquired with the police yesterday as to whether or not the activity will be carried out today, but it was undecided. There may be some restrictions, so if you are going to Happo-one, it may be better to check in advance.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (25th), a size 1 wet snow point occurrence avalanches and snowballs were observed on the very low elevation south slope, which is heavily exposed to solar radiation.

Snowpack

The snow in the stormy weather has settled down, and the wind that was very strong has subsided. Instability results in time-lapsed wind slabs remaining in extreme terrain. Pay attention to very steep slopes, or places where snow cover forms thin slabs on isolated or extreme convex terrain. It is also necessary to think about changes during the day in places at low elevations and highly affected by solar radiation and warming. When you enter the valley road in the second half of the tour, please be wary of the collapse of the snow blocks above you.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts the southern wind, daytime, northern wind, sunny weather, and the highest temperature of 8℃ (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -10.7℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
