Travel and Terrain Advice

It's a day when you need to be careful about the unstable snow that remains in extreme terrain. Fresh snow with a sense of gliding is a good condition on slopes that are not affected by solar radiation and wind. Don't increase your gliding speed too much and lose control. The important thing about skiing in the mountains is to slide with plenty of room and not fall over. It is also necessary to think about changes during the day in places at low elevations and highly affected by solar radiation and warming. The avalanche of wet snow is very heavy, so don't let your guard down even if it's small. Have a nice holiday

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (25th), size 1 wet snow point occurrence avalanches and snowballs were observed on the low elevation south slope, which is heavily exposed to solar radiation.

Snowpack

The snow in the stormy weather has settled down, and strong winds have subsided. Instability results in time-lapsed wind slabs remaining in extreme terrain. Pay attention to very steep slopes, or places where snow cover forms thin slabs on isolated or extreme convex terrain.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts southwest winds, rear and south winds, sunny weather, and a maximum temperature of 11°C (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Kanzan (altitude 350 m), the temperature is -1.4℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
