Travel and Terrain Advice

If you want to raise the elevation, please check the combined state of fresh snow and old snow. It is also important to pay attention to the conditions of the snow surface, whether there is a wind effect, and also to notice where the slabs are forming. If you are unsure about the condition, reducing the slope is the most effective safety measure. Measure the slope and refine your sense of terrain. Also, since there is a forecast of a big rise in temperature today, don't forget the effects of that. Even if you feel that the snow is stable, adhering to the principle of action, such as stopping in a safe place, will reduce accidents in case of an emergency. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

There is no new avalanche observation report due to poor visibility yesterday (27th).

Snowpack

The snowfall temporarily intensified yesterday (27th) morning, and it became about 20 cm in the below treeline. In the observed range, the combination of fresh snow and old snow is not so bad, but it has been reported that the adjacent Hakuba Mountains respond sensitively to human stimuli, so vigilance is necessary. Fresh snow rests on the melting and freezing layer where the effects of solar radiation and temperature rise are strong, and dry old snow on the north side where the elevation is raised.

Weather

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts westerly winds, sunny, sometimes cloudy, and a maximum temperature of 11°C (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. At Myoko Kanzan (altitude 350 m), the temperature is 0.6℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
