Travel and Terrain Advice

It is generally a safe avalanche condition. Those who increase the elevation should be aware of the small windslabs that remain in the extreme terrain. Today, southerly winds are coming in, and it is forecast that the temperature will rise above yesterday. Be wary of glide cracks forming at low elevations. If you are descending from the valley at the end of the tour, be aware of the collapse of snow blocks on the extreme terrain above you. The mountains are expected to be crowded. Even when the snow is stable, please keep in mind group management that recognizes the avalanche terrain. The habit of following these basics will reduce the incidents of another day. Have a nice day

概要

Avalanche

No the new avalanche were reported yesterday (4th).

Snowpack

The snow surface melted on the south-facing slope, which was strongly affected by the solar radiation and temperature rise due to yesterday's good weather, resulting in spring conditions. When elevations are raised, hard old snow surfaces are exposed where they are hit by the wind, forming isolated slabs locally on the terrain. The valley floor, which is less affected by the wind on the north side, has a high density of recent snowfall.

Weather

The Meteorological Agency predicts southern winds, daytime, somewhat strong, cloudy, sunny, late night snow, and a high temperature of 12°C (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -6.4℃ (as of 5:00), and there is no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
