In the adjacent Hakuba Mountains, large-scale Glide avalanche and point-generated avalanches due to wet snow have been observed and reported.
Snowpack
Due to the good weather and temperature rise every day, the surface layer of the snow cover is sufficiently wet, and the strength is lowered. This morning's rainfall has been added here, and the snow conditions at low altitudes are in a very bad state. Full-layer avalanches on glide-cracked slopes can also occur after the rain has stopped and time has passed, so please do not let your guard down on such slopes today.
Weather
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts westerly winds, slightly strong, cloudy, rain until dawn, and a high temperature of 14 degrees Celsius (elevation 13 m) for the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture. The temperature is 5℃ (as of 5:00) at Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1,310m). It has been rainfall since dawn, and precipitation of about 10 mm is observed at the foot of the mountain by 6:00.
