Travel and Terrain Advice

There may be places where snowfall makes glide cracks difficult to see. Be vigilant enough for slopes where you can't see ahead. Also, at low altitudes, the risk of Glide avalanche continues. Be careful, including any remaining snow blocks above you. Today's snow may be difficult to slip on skis and snowboards where the sliding surface is dirty, sliding on slopes with floating yellow sand and dust due to continued good weather. Wax is needed. Avalanche
There is no information on the mountainous area yesterday (18th) due to stormy weather.
Snowpack
At low altitudes, rainfall and positive temperatures have continued since yesterday, and there is a high risk of Glide avalanche. We have observed fresh snow of about 20 cm at an altitude of 1,300 m, and consider that there has been snowfall of about 30 cm near the forest limit from the amount of rainfall so far. The temperature is as high as -5 degrees Celsius on the main ridge line, so this fresh snow is quickly sintering and settling. The wind is turning from yesterday's southwesterly wind to the west before dawn today.
Weather
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts northern wind, cloudy weather, morning and evening, snow or rain, and a high of 9℃ (elevation 418m) for the northern part of Nagano prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is 2.8℃ (as of 5:00). We have been observing 30 mm of precipitation since last night.
