Higher elevations and northerly slopes, which are less susceptible to sunny slopes, may be less well bonded to future snowfall. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. At lower elevations, exposed bushes make running difficult. Be careful of falling into gully.
Watch for increased snowfall in the future.
No new avalanche was reported yesterday (31st), but the information is limited due to few observation reports as few people are entering the mountain.
Yesterday, the snowpack made progress in settling. In areas that were sunny yesterday, crusts are expected to form on the surface of the snowpack on south-facing slopes due to the influence of solar radiation. In areas less affected by solar radiation and at higher elevations, the snowfall from this morning is on top of the low-density snowfall from yesterday, which was less affected by the wind, and attention should be paid to the bonding of the boundary surfaces in the future.
As of 4:00 pm, about 1 cm of snow had fallen in the vicinity of Amedas Fujiwara, and snow is still falling. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the weather is expected to gradually change to a winter pressure pattern, but due to the influence of a pressure trough and cold air, the northern part of Gunma Prefecture is forecast to be cloudy and sometimes sunny, with snowfall in some areas from the evening.
