Watch for storm slabs on extremely steep slopes at elevation. Expect some solar radiation during the day. If snowballs begin to roll on slopes, it is a sign that the snowpack is losing strength. Be aware of the possibility of a wet loose snow avalanche from the larger, steeper slopes to the south. Be aware of cornice collapses as well. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the generated avalanche is small. In the lower elevation area, bushes are exposed and difficult to ski.
Yesterday (8th), a naturally occurring size 1 loose snow avalanche of size 1 was observed on a steep south-facing slope in the tree line, but due to poor visibility in some areas, it could not be fully observed.
More than 200 cm of snowfall due to stormy weather up to the 6th has been settling and bonding is rising. Due to yesterday's sunny slope, crusts are forming on the surface on the southerly slopes. In the Kagura area, a layer of surface hoar that was buried on the 8th is observed, but bonding is not bad. Be careful of the bonding of storm slab instability that remains on extremely steep slopes.
As of 4:00 pm, there has been no snowfall at AMeDAS Fujiwara in the past 12 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting high pressure at first, but as the front moves southward across the Sea of Japan and reaches the Kanto Koshin region at night, it will be sunny and cloudy in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture, with snow or rain late in the evening.
