In the Alpine and Treeline, dangerous avalanche conditions. Careful route selection and conservative decision-making are essential. It is important to avoid large start zones above you, to choose slopes with gentle slopes, and to avoid "terrain traps". For inexperienced skiers, fresh snow areas in the ski area are recommended. In such cases, please observe the areas where skiing is allowed.
Yesterday (January 9), a human-triggered size 1 slab avalanche was observed at the treeline. In addition, a human-triggered size 1 wet loose snow avalanche was observed at lower elevations in the forested area.
There had been about 30 cm of snowfall by this morning in the upper treeline. Please pay attention to the bonding between this new snow and the old snow. At very low elevations, glide cracks are expanding due to yesterday's warming.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) is forecasting northwest winds, slightly stronger winds, snow, and a maximum temperature of 4°C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture.
