Below Treeline Good Note wet snow point generation due to rising temperatures and solar radiation.

On the steep south-facing slopes below Treeline, watch out for loose snow avalanches caused by wet snow due to daytime snow changes. Wet snow is heavy and can easily scoop you even small. If there is a "terrain trap" under that slope, there can be serious consequences. Last season, there were several incidents of people being swept by small wet loose avalanches and falling into the glide cracks below them. On the other hand, in Alpine and Treeline, beware of wind slabs that remain in isolated terrain. These are extremely shaped slopes or terrain that do not support any snow at all. Continued strong winds have also left many hard slopes exposed at higher elevations. Please be careful of slips and falls. The weather is getting worse slowly. Have a nice day.
Hard slabs formed in terrain pockets
Considering the effects of elevated temperature and solar radiation
Yesterday (January 12), due to sunny slopes and elevated temperatures, numerous size 1 loose snow avalanches of wet snow were observed on the southern slopes Below Treeline. In addition, a size 2.5 slab avalanche, likely from within the past 24 hours, was observed on the northeast slope of the alpine.
The snow that fell on January 9-10 has settled well. On the steep south-facing slopes, crusts have formed from solar radiation due to yesterday's fine weather. At the foot of the mountain, temperatures rose to 7.4° (14:00) yesterday, and a similar temperature increase is the forecast for today. Watch for snow changes during the day.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting southerly winds, clear skies, cloudy from midday, and a high of 12°C (418 m elevation) for northern Nagano Prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -7.5°C (5 a.m.), with no snowfall in the past 12 hours.
