Alpine Fair
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Fair Note the effects of elevated temperature and solar radiation.
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
On the steep south-facing slopes below Treeline, watch out for loose snow avalanches caused by wet snow due to daytime snow changes. Wet snow is heavy and can easily scoop you even small. If there is a "terrain trap" under that slope, there can be serious consequences. On the other hand, in Alpine, beware of wind slabs that remain in isolated terrain. These are extremely shaped slopes or terrain that do not support any snow at all. Continued strong winds have also left many hard slopes exposed at higher elevations. Please be careful of slips and falls. The weather is getting worse slowly. Have a nice day.

Keep in mind solar radiation and temperature rise during the day
Yesterday (January 12), several size 1 wet loose snow avalanches were observed in the below treeline on steep slopes that are strongly affected by solar radiation. In addition, at very low elevations, expanding glide cracks were also observed.
The snow from the stormy weather has settled sufficiently. Crusts are forming on steep south-facing slopes due to solar radiation. A similar temperature increase is forecast for today, so watch for snow changes during the day.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a southerly wind, clear skies, cloudy in the evening, and a maximum temperature of 16°C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -3° (as of 4:45 a.m.).
