Travel and Terrain Advice

Due to the cold nighttime temperatures in the lower elevations, be aware of the possibility of block collapses and glide avalanches from cliff-like areas with thin snow cover or open glide cracks. Avoid entering the lower part of such areas. Or go through them quickly. New storm slabs may be forming at higher elevations with heavy snowfall.

概要

Avalanche

No reports of new avalanches observed yesterday.

Snowpack

Rising temperatures and rainfall caused the snowpack at least below 2000 m to go from moist to wet in all directions and then refreeze in all directions. New glide cracks opened in some places on steep, convex slopes. The snowpack remained weak in intensity at lower elevations, while there was expected to be a thin snowfall over the crust at higher elevations.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature at Amedas Fujiwara is 1.4°C. There had been 4.5 mm of rainfall in the past 12 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a winter pressure pattern, with cloudy skies and snow or rain in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture before dawn due to the influence of a pressure trough and cold air.
