Yesterday (January 15), a glide avalanche of size 1.5-2 was observed.
Snowpack
At very low elevations, the rainfall and high temperatures have reduced the snowpack intensity, resulting in glide avalanches. Consider that the cold temperatures this morning were also weak and that the instability has not yet been fully resolved. Meanwhile, at higher elevations, wet or wet snow surfaces are freezing hard.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting northerly winds, late, northwesterly winds, snow or rain, and a maximum temperature of 4°C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Myoko Sasagamine (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -2° (as of 5:45 a.m.).
