Below Treeline Good Beware of solar radiation and rising temperatures during the day.
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
In the Alpine, the hard melt-freeze crust or Ice surface is exposed and care should be taken to avoid slipping and falling. Very hard debris from the wet avalanche that occurred during the rainfall on January 14 has accumulated on the gully bottom, hindering skiing. Below Treeline, there are many holes in the gully and a lot of bushes. The little snow does not fill out the complex terrain. If you are relying on GPS route data from the previous season, It would result in a loss of the way. Please check terrain maps and recognize with your own eyes the actual mountain conditions in front of you. Although the avalanche danger level is low, the conditions require experience and skill to act in the mountains.
Extremely steep slopes with very strong daytime heat rise and solar radiation
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (January 19).
The effects of last weekend's rainfall have reached the alpine area, and the snow surface is hard frozen with subsequent snow on top of it. After the snowfall, very strong winds blew, exposing icy old snow surfaces in areas exposed to the wind. Weak snowfall over the past few days has also eliminated the instability.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting winds from the south, clear, then cloudy, late evening, snow, and a high of 9°C (418 m elevation) for northern Nagano Prefecture. At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -6.6°C (as of 5 am), with no snowfall in the past 12 hours.
