Travel and Terrain Advice

Be aware of new wind slab bonding that has formed on steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges due to last night's strong northwesterly winds. Deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, standing timber, and other "terrain traps" that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small are exposed.

Caution is needed at higher elevations where winds are stronger.

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches were reported yesterday, but visibility was poor.

Snowpack

New snowfall affected by the winds from the 20th is 30-40 cm in many places. On top of that, new wind slabs are expected to form on the ridge line and just below the ridge due to the strong northwesterly winds from last night. Crusts are exposed on the wind-sensitive ridges.

Weather

As of 4:00 pm, the temperature at Amedas Fujiwara is -7.7°C. No new snowfall in the past 12 hours, but there was some snowfall in the surrounding area until around 8 pm. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting that the winter pressure pattern will loosen and high pressure will cover the area, but that it will be sunny and sometimes cloudy in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to cold air.
