Beware of the approaching storm, strong winds and cold temperatures. Be prepared and travel cautiously. The new snow will need time to bond to the previous storm snow. As additional load arrives over the next 48 hours the storm interface will become increasingly reactive.
NW winds will increase in intensity re-distributing storm snow to leeward slopes.

15-20cms of light dry snow arrived with very little wind last night and will be sluffing easily on steep slopes today.
Glide cracks have opened up on steep slopes in the Shiribetsu area over the past 48 hours.
The melt freeze crust is now 40-60cms below the surface in most parts of the region and beginning to break down. It has been unreactive to skier traffic however it should continue to be monitored carefully particularly in the Shiribetsu region where it is closer to the surface (~30cms down) and more robust. 15-20cms of new snow arrived overnight and is likely to be reactive to skier traffic today.
After a short break between storms, a new system has arrived bringing 15-20cms of new snow to the region overnight. Snow is expected to continue through the day today with NW winds increasing in intensity later in the day. Tomorrow will bring heavy snow and strong to gale force winds expected across the region. Temperatures will drop through the day today and it will be very cold tonight with an overnight low of -15C expected at valley bottom.
