Travel and Terrain Advice

Note the bonding of wind slabs that remain localized at higher elevations. It can be triggered on extremely steep slopes just below ridge lines and branch ridges. Exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting heavy snowfall due to stormy weather starting around noon. Watch for increased danger from new snowfall and winds.

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches were reported yesterday.

Snowpack

On the southerly slopes at higher elevations, faceting was observed in the upper part of the crust that was buried on the 21st, and on the northerly slopes, a surface hoar frost and a layer of decomposed snow were present within the recent snowfall, both responding to human stimulation. Increased loading from future heavy snowfall should be noted.

Weather

As of 6:00, there is no new snowfall in the vicinity of AMeDAS Fujiwara. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) is forecasting cloudy skies and snow with thunderstorms in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture from early afternoon due to a gradually stronger winter pressure pattern, a pressure trough, and cold air.
